The Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro is now available for purchase for a price of $230 (opens in a new tab), and it has many of the features that are found on the top gaming keyboards, such as a complete set of media keys, RGB lighting, and even a premium wrist rest. However, it also eliminates the need for a rope by enabling players to connect their controllers wirelessly through Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz USB dongles, or braided cables whenever the controller requires charging. This is the keyboard for the gamer that wants everything except the wire, and it fits their needs well.
The BlackWidow V3 Pro is visually similar to other keyboards produced by Razer. Take, for example, the eye-catching media dial, the writhing snake symbol on the bottom of the keyboard, and the soft leatherette wrist rest included with it. The design is simple and entirely black, with a top plate made of metal and a base made of plastic. Most of this keyboard's glitz comes from its RGB lighting, which Razer has never been particularly bad at. Still, the company has improved even further by introducing transparent versions of its mechanical switches. These transparent versions allow the LEDs to be seen more clearly.
Even though it might be cumbersome to transport, Razer has made it simple to connect the keyboard to many different computers. Switching between different systems is made much simpler by having a sturdy toggle on the left side that cannot be unintentionally pressed. You can use a dongle that operates at 2.4 GHz, connects through Bluetooth, or connects via a USB-C cable that is detachable and braided. I also successfully linked the clacker with up to three Bluetooth devices, and I hopped about by pushing FN and 1, 2, or 3. This makes the keyboard a good if heavy, alternative for either increasing productivity or bringing it into the living room.
When associated with your computer through Bluetooth, the BlackWidow V3 Pro gives you more control options than most other wireless gaming peripherals, including the ability to use the software. After using the keyboard in Bluetooth mode for 13 hours while simultaneously using a wireless mouse, the keyboard connected three times all of a sudden; each time, the connection occurred after a few minutes of inactivity on the user's part.
Mechanical switches may be either tactile and clicky Razer Green (opens in new tab) or linear and quiet Razer Yellow (opens in new tab) on the BlackWidow V3 Pro (3.5mm total travel, activating at 1.2mm with 45G of force). Razer improved the latter for the Blackwidow V3 Pro by adding silicon dampeners that are permanently attached to guarantee that the headset operates in complete quiet. Our test device is equipped with Green switches, which are assertive and bold like Cherry MX Blue switches.
On the field of war, the BlackWidow V3 Pro performed very well. When I play video games, I use the Razer HyperSpeed dongle since it is intended to offer a connectionless prone to latency and more dependable than Bluetooth.
It was a lot of fun to try out various key combinations in MMO games, and the fact that the keys were separated from one another made it simpler for me to determine which button I was pressing without having to take my eyes off the screen.
I adjusted the keyboard's RGB settings to maximum brightness and alternated between a rainbow wave and a static hue, depending on the demands of the work at hand. It is pre-configured to switch off after 15 minutes of inactivity, which is the default setting when you first turn it on. My review device lasted an average of over 14 hours before having to be recharged when these settings. However, I could have prolonged the battery life by allowing the RGB to dim after I had stopped using the keyboard for one minute to fifteen minutes. Razer allows users to forego this feature, in contrast to Logitech's wireless competitor, which claims to have a battery life of 30 hours with RGB at its maximum brightness but dims itself after a period of inactivity.
The BlackWidow V3 Pro has a reasonable number of features. However, it is too reliant on the Synapse 3 software (opens in a new tab). That is not a terrible thing to deal with, considering how comprehensive and simple Synapse is to use.
Even though the onboard memory may store up to four profiles, the RGB settings applied to each profile will not be carried over if the program is not running, and the software is required to generate the profiles in the first place. This implies that Synapse has to be active for you to be able to toggle any RGB values that are not one of the present seven.
