Aside from the always-on display, ECG sensor, and compass built into the new Apple Watch, one function that users have been clamoring for has yet to be included: sleep monitoring. A native sleep app is one problem, but it's far from the only one. There is an alternative. Your Apple Watch must be part of your night ritual until Apple incorporates an automated do not disturb option into the Apple Watch. But don't worry. There are a few simple tweaks to help.
If you want to avoid your watch blinking in the middle of the night, use this simple method to prevent it. Even if you have the always-on display activated on your Apple Watch Series 5, the screen will remain dark unless you double-tap the screen to wake it up. Tap the comedy/tragedy mask symbol, which can be found by swiping up from the bottom of your screen. As a result, your watch's display will remain dark all night. Notification taps will, however, continue to be delivered.
Disabling the raise-to-wake feature will keep your watch from waking unless you touch the screen or push the Digital Crown. Go to Settings, General, Wake Screen, then turn off Wake Screen on Wrist Raise on your watch. To activate the screen, you must push the Digital Crown or tap the screen.
The screen will no longer be waking you up but will still be tapping on your face as you sleep. A simple shortcut is to enable Do Not Disturb. That will ensure that you don't get alerts on your wrist but on your phone. To activate the control center, slide up from the bottom of the screen and hit the half-moon symbol. Just be sure to reactivate them in the morning by turning them on.
The only way to add a Wind Down is if you've turned on the Sleep Schedule and have a regular bedtime routine established.
Open Settings >'' Focus >'' Sleep on your iPhone to make the necessary adjustments. Tap the Schedule and Options button on the sleep schedule you want to edit. Wind Down is included in the Additional Details section.
Turn off Wind Down if you wish to use Control Center to manage your Sleep Focus. To turn it off, set the duration to zero if it's already active. There will be no time to decompress on weekends if you don't plan a sleep regimen for the work week.
If your watch's screen continues to wake you up in the middle of the night even after you've enabled Sleep Screen and performed a Wind Down, try the following extra troubleshooting actions.
You may turn off sleep monitoring in the Settings app by selecting Sleep and then scrolling down to the bottom. Toggle it back on after a few seconds.
You may also erase your sleep routines in the Health app on your iPhone. Open the Schedule &'' Options menu by selecting Browse >'' Sleep. Delete Schedule is at the bottom of the screen if you wish to remove a schedule. Afterward, press Done to finish the process. To add a new sleep schedule, hit the Add button.
Changing the Sleep Focus settings will allow you to get notifications like incoming calls and texts, even if you're in bed and not looking at your phone. Customize your Sleep Focus to allow you to receive critical alerts and phone calls from people and applications that are essential to you while you sleep. Go to your iPhone's Focus &'' Sleep settings to turn it off.
To make modifications, go to the section under "Allowed Notifications" and choose People and Apps. When you enable the sleep focus, your watch and iPhone will only show the contacts and applications you've listed. Sleep Focus blocks alerts and phone calls for everyone else and all your other applications, indicating that you're not accessible now.
