The new Night Shift mode (which finally works even when iOS's low-power mode is enabled) is designed to help you sleep by filtering out the brightest colours from the display of your iPhone or iPad. To begin, enable Safari's Reader mode by touching the button with the three lines to the left of the address bar. This button is located in the upper-left corner of the screen. Reader mode eliminates non-essential components of the website while preserving the content of the text, although it does nothing to reduce the brightness of the display... not yet, at least not in any case.
During a late-night online surfing session, the display on your iPhone or iPad will still emit a significant amount of light even with the Night Shift mode activated. Here is a tip that will come in helpful if you want to read an epic feature article on the Safari web browser, but you don't want to keep your significant other up while you do it. Turn off any alerts that would break the stillness.The screen's brightness may be drastically reduced by switching to white text on a black backdrop, which is available in Safari's Reader mode.
If you want the text to be white on a black backdrop, open an iBook and press the font button in the upper right corner of the screen (it's the same button as the "aA" button in Safari). Then select the circle with the darkest background. There is also a feature known as Auto-Night Theme that, when used, causes the iPhone or iPad to go into night mode as soon as the ambient light sensor determines that it is sufficiently dark outside.

The Kindle app also has a brightness slider, which operates independently of the primary option for screen brightness on iOS. This feature is ideal for making the screen as dark as possible. (Usually, it takes me about five minutes after beginning to read a Kindle book with the brightness turned down to its lowest level and the black backdrop turned on for me to go off to sleep.)

You will also be out of luck if you are searching for a night-mode option in the Mail app, which means that you will have to turn on the lights in the room while accessing your mailbox. There is, however, a method to read considerately late at night on an iPhone or iPad even when there is no dark-mode option in sight. This is the case even when no dark mode feature is in view.
